Hawthorn Berry Syrup
Ingredients
1/2 cup of dried hawthorn berries or 1 cup fresh hawthorn berries
2 cups of distilled water
1 cup of raw honey
1 cinnamon stick
Handful of cardamom pods
1in piece of ginger root
Instructions
In a pot add the water, berries, and herbs.
Cover with a lid and bring to a boil
Reduce the heat to a simmer and let simmer until the liquid reduces by half
Strain through a fine mesh sieve
Add honey and stir to combine
Stir in an airtight container in the fridge. This will not last as long as a glyceride or alcohol tincture but can be made quickly and easily!
Add to drinks, baked goods, tea, and anywhere you need a sweetener!
