Hawthorn Berry Syrup: Regulating the Heart’s Fire

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup of dried hawthorn berries or 1 cup fresh hawthorn berries

  • 2 cups of distilled water

  • 1 cup of raw honey

  • 1 cinnamon stick

  • Handful of cardamom pods

  • 1in piece of ginger root

Instructions

  • In a pot add the water, berries, and herbs.

  • Cover with a lid and bring to a boil

  • Reduce the heat to a simmer and let simmer until the liquid reduces by half

  • Strain through a fine mesh sieve

  • Add honey and stir to combine

  • Stir in an airtight container in the fridge. This will not last as long as a glyceride or alcohol tincture but can be made quickly and easily!

  • Add to drinks, baked goods, tea, and anywhere you need a sweetener!
